By June Tapia October 29, 2019

Tip #1 – Sign up as a business Sign up for all the social media platforms – Start with Facebook, Linked-in, Twitter and/or Instagram (some prefer one or the other) both if your brand fits a wide demographic.

Tip #2 – Review your Competitors Competitors analysis -This is a tactic where you can learn what works well for you and your competitors and what doesn’t. You may find tidbits of information that pertains to your business and this will help with Tip #1 and filling out the information sections.

Tip #3 – Keep your Website Updated Your website is a crucial part of your business – it is essentially your store front on the world wide web. There are certain things that are important to have for the search engines like google to crawl and index.

  • a.) Make sure your website loads quickly – as a user, yourself, no one likes to wait!
  • b.) Make sure your photos are optimized by checking the size of your dpi and resolution of your photos.
  • c.) If you are using Wordpress – it is important to keep it updated with the latest version therefore it will not get hacked.

Tip #4 – Naming your images This is an undercover trick that many are unaware of… Google crawls your images. Make sure all your images are named correctly – (DO NOT let any of your photos show up like this: IMG-300.jpg) Your naming convention should be descriptive up to 20 characters and separated by hyphens not (underscores _ ). Start with the name of your company example: leadflash-keyword-description.jpg

Tip #5 – Alt text (hand and hand with Tip #4) On all your images there needs to be alt text provided – this helps the impaired read your images and google to crawl your images. See the alt=”alt tag” Example: HTML Code < img src = "planets.gif" width = "145" height = "126" alt = "Planets" usemap = "#planetmap" >

Tip #6 – Make sure your google business profile is setup – this helps a great deal On google you can setup your own business profile – because google has its own social media platform, basically – you can create posts and setup images. We suggest you keep this to evergreen content, therefore, it is never outdated.

Tip #7- FAQ Page Make sure you have a FAQ page on your website – remember all the questions from your clients/customers/visitors ask you – write them down and answer them – then place them on your site.

Tip #8 - SSL Certificate Make sure your site is secure by applying an SSL through your host provider. How you can tell if your site is secure it will show a lock icon and https:// in your navigation bar Omnibox. If you are using Wordpress you can work with your host provider to implement a plugin such as: Really Simple SSL.

Tip #9 – Compliance Privacy Policy Page Have a privacy policy page this is a statement or a legal document that discloses some or all of the ways a party gathers, uses, discloses, and manages a customer or client's data. It fulfills a legal requirement to protect a customer or client's privacy.

Tip #10 – Subscribe me! Setup a subscribe area on your website – This will help with your email list to collect emails from potential clients/customers interested in your product. A tool such as hellobar.com will give you detailed instructions on how to implement this onto your site.
